There was enthusiastic participation from the students and the team comprising of Maneesha Akshay, Dhinesh Potnuru and Saurabh Kumar was adjudged the winning team of the competition. He believes that women shoppers are the bread and butter of the retail industry and says that retail has released the shackles of choice bounded by the local kirana shop. Mall talked about women empowerment through the proliferation of super-markets. Mall has recently written a book with the same name providing insights from simple observations made by a SuperMarketwala in a retail space. The theme of the session was " A walk with the SuperMarketwala". It deals with power and politics at the centre, and the relationship between the White House and the press, notably over Watergate. This is more than the mere life story of a successful woman. Above all, Katharine Graham tells her own story - the contradictions of her privileged yet lonely childhood the tragic drama of her marriage - and the challenges of her new life as the head of a great newspaper company.Īn extraordinarily frank, honest and generous book by one of America's most famous and admired women, owner of one of its greatest newspapers, the Washington Post. Her husband Phil Graham was a brilliant and charismatic man whose plunge into manic depression and eventual suicide is recounted movingly and charitably in this book. This is a quick and easy read with a nice little mystery, some strange reality twists, and some magic. My Summary (4/5): Overall I plan on continuing with the series, this is a decent listen and there aren't a lot of novella length audiobooks available at my library. However, this book was better than the first book and I am enjoying watching these women navigate this strange little magical town. I still feel like the world and characters are incomplete more sketches than filled out. Then things start getting really weird for our witchy trio as reality starts to veer off course. The premise here is that a strange ghost boy starts showing up at Lizzie’s church. There is still some ambiguity about why the town of Lychford attracts these strange occurrences which I still find confusing. This was a creepy but well done Christmas mystery. We get to know the characters better, especially Judith and Lizzie. Thoughts: I liked this book a bit better than the first book in the series. I borrowed this on audiobook from the library.Īudiobook Quality (4/5): This audiobook was well read and I enjoyed the narration. There are five novella length books in this series. Series Info/Source: This is the second book in the Witches of Lychford series. She grew up in New York State, in Lewis and Westchester counties, and attended the University of Rochester where she majored in English Literature and European History. She is a co-author of Fatal Throne, which explores the lives of King Henry VIII's six wives, for which she wrote the part of Anna of Cleves, Henry's fourth wife. Jennifer Donnelly is the author of thirteen novels - Poisoned, Stepsister, Lost in a Book, These Shallow Graves, Sea Spell, Dark Tide, Rogue Wave, Deep Blue, Revolution, A Northern Light, The Tea Rose, The Winter Rose and The Wild Rose - and Humble Pie, a picture book for children. Reilly's debut evokes a host of predecessors, including Jaws, The Andromeda Strain, The X-Files and the combat novels of Tom Clancy. From that discovery onward, this first novel offers nonstop thrills as Schofield and his team fight for their lives-and for those of the remaining American scientists-against French and British commandos and a secret American spy group against killer whales and strange aquatic mammals and against time, for both the French and British commandos harbor ""eraser"" plans to wipe out all survivors in case of mission failure. Would the French government kill Americans to capture a frozen UFO? Probably: six of the French ""scientists"" turn out to be the members of the French special forces. By the time the leathernecks reach Wilkes, three days later, one of the scientists has killed another, six more members of the Wilkes team have disappeared in the ice cave and eight French scientists from a nearby station are for some reason at the U.S. Shane ""Scarecrow"" Schofield and his highly trained team of Marines respond to the scientists' distress signal. After a team of American scientists at Wilkes Ice Station discover what seems to be a spaceship in a four-million-year-old cavern below the ice, two of the divers disappear while checking out the craft. These relationships may lead to kissing or even groping, but rarely last long, typically never past graduation.** I wonder how that might feel to a girl more like myself. In hearts and minds they are a sort of 'starter' relationship, a test-run and a safe space for emotions run rampant**. Which occupy a nebulous area of romantic fantasy about a barely physical relationship, a platonic, fiercely romantic friendship between (frequently) two highschool girls a year or two apart*.
